The journal provides high quality, original research papers to keep members and subscribers informed of developments in the areas of sports exercise and medicine, sports injury, physical activity, and sports exercise and science.
Produced monthly, it reflects SMA’s commitment to encouraging world-class research and to the continuing education of its members. The journal is the most cited research publication on sport medicine and sports science in Australia, and in the Journal Citation Reports subject category “Sports Science” (which was released in June 2019 by Clarivate Analytics) JSAMS is ranked 12/85, with a 2018 impact factor of 3.623.

Subscription to the Journal is included with all SMA Professional memberships. SMA Associate, Sports Trainer and Student members or members of sports medicine and science discipline groups (AAESS, AAPSM, ACSP, COSP, SDA, SDrA or SPA) may subscribe using the subscription form. Other individuals and all institutional subscribers must subscribe through Elsevier via the following link www.jsams.org/pricing.

British Journal of Sports Medicine (BJSM)
The British Journal of Sports Medicine (BJSM) online subscription is provided to all SMA professional members as part of their SMA membership. The BJSM is a multi-media information portal that provides original research, reviews and debate relating to clinically-relevant aspects of sport and exercise medicine. BJSM contributes to innovation (research), education (teaching and learning) and knowledge translation (implementing research into practice and policy). BJSM uses web, print, video and audio material to serve the international sport and exercise medicine community. BJSM’s blog and twitter account both feature in the top 10 of Webicina’s Top 100 Sports Medicine Social Media Channels. BJSM’s 2016 impact factor is 6.724.
