Concussion is a serious matter, and information regarding its short and long-term health implications continues to evolve, creating a real challenge for those responsible for the wellbeing of others.

At Sports Medicine Australia, our mission is to educate and equip the Australian sporting community with the latest information to safely manage concussion, particularly for youth and community-based athletes.

Here you’ll find essential concussion resources to support athlete safety, including our downloadable graded return to sport poster and the Australian Concussion Guidelines for Youth and Community Sport.

Return to sport poster

This return to sport poster provides simple steps to help ensure athletes with suspected concussion receive proper care and sufficient recovery time.

Download and print this A3 resource, and place it on a board in your club or school for a quick and easy reference for how to manage suspected concussion.

The guidelines have been rigorously developed and reviewed in partnership with several organisations based on data, expertise and experience, and align with international concussion standards.

Australian Concussion Guidelines for Youth and Community Sport

The Australian Concussion Guidelines for Youth and Community Sport provide clear and consistent advice for parents, teachers, coaches, sideline staff, and others involved in youth and community sport. Released in February 2024, these guidelines outline how to recognise and manage concussion, from the moment of injury to a safe return to learning, work, and sport.
