Sports Medicine Australia is beyond thrilled to have Dr Zondi as one of the Keynote Speakers for the 2022 SMA Conference, taking place from November 16-19 at the scenic RACV Royal Pines Resort in Gold Coast.

At the in-person Conference this year, Dr Zondi will be talking about Sports Equity – specifically interrogating representation, inclusion and diversity in sports and exercise medicine, and the importance it plays in generating meaningful research and improving the clinical care we offer athletes.

Dr Zondi is a Sports and Exercise Medicine (SEM) Physician experienced in clinical sports medicine, executive management, and leadership. She is Chairperson of the Medical Advisory Commission for the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC), a Director at the Sharks Rugby Union and the South African Institute for Drug Free Sports (SAIDS), an expert medical advisor for Virgin Active Africa, and past President of the South African Sports Medicine Association (2015 – 2017).

She is passionate about developing and mentoring young women and future leaders of South Africa and frequently contributes to forums that enable this. Her mission is to use sport and physical activity as a tool for socio-economic development, and as a platform to drive transformation.
