“In March of 2023, the opportunity arose for me to be able to attend Sports Medicine Australia’s Level 1 Sports Trainer Course in order to help our local Football Club, the Mighty Wynyard Cats, situated on the North West Coast of Tasmania. Added to that, I work at a local Fitness Facility with a certificate 3 and 4 in Fitness, and have two young boys who are heavily into their sports, so it all fitted together perfectly. Our trainer, Michael, explained things in an engaging way, with enough detail to assist you in feeling confident, but not too much information that things got missed in translation.
Recently, I was fortunate enough to be a part of a Tasmanian Institute of Sport Performance Testing event in Penguin, Tasmania. It was amazing to be able to watch as the legends from the institute took potential future superstars through their paces whilst at the same time being able to gain some more experience toward my Sports Trainer Experience. Thankfully, however, the worst I had to deal with was applying an icepack to a knee that felt a little bit ‘off’ from a prior injury and I only needed to open my Sports Trainer Kit once!
Thank you SO much ???? to the crew at the Tasmanian Institute of Sport and Sports Medicine Australia for allowing me the opportunity to further my skills in such a professional environment. I do encourage anyone who is involved with a sporting club or has an interest in physical activity to do their Level One Sports Trainer Qualification. Even though I had experience in a sport and fitness setting, there were people who did the course who had no history whatsoever, and they are now volunteering their time on the weekends to help out their local clubs. Added to that, you could end up gaining even more experience and a paid role using your qualification just like I did recently, I never thought I would get paid for the role of a sports trainer. The team at Sports Medicine Australia have continually been a wealth of knowledge and support and will be there alongside you to support your journey.”
