After an extensive search, it gives us great pleasure to announce that we have appointed a new Editor-In-Chief for our newly formed open-access, online journal, JSAMS Plus, the companion journal to our internationally-recognised JSAMS.
Dr Jessica Orchard, is a Senior Research Fellow and NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow at the School of Public Health, Faculty of Medicine, the University of Sydney, and will assume the role of Editor-in-Chief from April 2023 for a period of 4 years.
Jessica’s PhD was awarded by the University of Sydney without emendation in November 2020, for which she received the Peter Bancroft Prize for Research. She also has a Master of Public Health, and Bachelor of Economics / Bachelor of Laws (Hons I) all from the University of Sydney. Jessica became a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC) in 2019.
Jessica has published more than 65 peer-reviewed papers, with an H index of 24 and over 16,800 citations, including several first author papers cited in international guidelines. She has authored 8 commissioned reports for elite sports in Australia, which implemented numerous recommendations. She has given more than 80 conference presentations and has been an invited speaker at multiple international cardiology and sports medicine conferences.
We would like to thank Professor Dr Tim Meyer, who was appointed Editor-In-Chief for JSAMS in 2022, and who oversaw the launch of JSAMS Plus in late 2022, and the transition to Jessica. Jessica and Tim will continue to work closely together to build on the reputation of both our journals and create a distinct personality for each publication.
We are very excited about the future of JSAMS and JSAMS Plus and we look forward to seeing the journals continuing to thrive under both Dr Orchard’s and Professor Meyer’s leadership.
