2021 SMA Conference Keynote Speaker – Professor Anna Timperio

Sports Medicine Australia is thrilled to announce Professor Anna Timperio as one of our Keynote Speakers for the 2021 SMA Conference. Professor Timperio is Deputy Director of the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN), and Deputy Head of the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, Deakin University. Her research focuses on understanding the range of influences on physical activity and sedentary behaviour, particularly among children and adolescents, and over critical life transition periods. A major focus of her work has been understanding how the neighbourhood and built environment shape active living.  She has over 200 peer reviewed publications and has been named a Highly Cited Researcher four times since 2015. She is a Fellow of the International Society of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity and previously served as Associate Editor of the International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity, and Public Health Nutrition.

This announcement now completes the lineup of Keynote Speakers at the 2021 SMA Conference. The panel now includes Dr David Martin, Professor Carolyn Emery, Professor Kristian Thorborg, Professor Shona Halson, Professor Emmanuel Stamatakis, Clinical Assistant Professor Jean-Francois Esculier and Professor Anna Timperio. We are thrilled to have announced our complete lineup of Keynote Speakers and are looking forward to seeing this phenomenal group of talent in action from 6-9 October at the Melbourne Cricket Ground with Early Bird registration closing July 31.
