Fitzroy Football Club (incorporating the Fitzroy Reds) is looking to recruit people to join a pool of trainers for their teams in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) – men’s and women’s Seniors and Reserves teams, and men’s Thirds teams.

As a trainer, you will be responsible for strapping and massage as well as working with physio and the fitness team on injury prevention and rehab. These positions are ideal for physio, osteo or exercise science students as well as people with an interest in sports massage or sports medicine (hours can count towards practical hours as part of study).

They require trainers for training during the pre-season (February through to late March) 6pm to 8pm on Monday and Thursday nights as well as practice matches. During the season, commencing early April, it will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. Ideally, you will be doing mid-week training with the team you’ll be with on Saturday.

They also require trainers for matches with times ranging from 10.30am-2pm, 12.30pm-5pm or 10.30am-5pm on Saturday – there may be the occasional earlier game with 8am/8.30am start time and twilight games being 3.30pm-6.30pm. Rostering is flexible e.g. can just do mid-week training or games.

Remuneration is negotiable depending on experience.

Must have at least Level 1 Sports Trainer qualification, be willing to obtain before 1 April or be a qualified practitioner, as well as current CPR and Sports First Aid certificates.

All trainers will also be required to have a Working with Children Check and adhere to the Club’s Child Safety Commitment (https://www.fitzroyfc.com.au/policies).
