Club Doctor – Season 2022
Job Overview
This role will consist of providing Williamstown VFL & VFLW teams with medical support and assisting in the coordination of the overall medical department.
Key Responsibilities
- liaise with Physio’s regarding the injury status of players throughout the week
- Provide players treatment as required
- Assist with Players booking or requiring referrals to specialists, imaging or collecting scripts and advise GM-Football of these requirements
- Maintain database as prescribed by the Club of ALL player treatments
- Work with other Medical Staff and Coaching Staff
- Liaise with GM-Football with any other player issues
- Assist GM-Football for any medical claims under Medicare and / or JLT Insurance
- Understand, and abide by Sport Integrity Australia’s Code of Conduct and Rules in relation to prohibited substances
Pre-Season:
- Attend at least one training per week to oversee any ongoing issues and “be on call as readily as possible”
VFL: In-Season:
- Provide a written medical plan following matches to assist Medical Staff which ensures the efficiency of the medical department and priorities the requirements of players
- Attend Tuesday night training to assess and treat players as required
- Be the Medical Team Representation at the Coaching Staff meeting (Tuesday Night) in season to provide a verbal report on the injury availability of all players
- Provide clear and concise feedback to the Coaching Staff as to why a particular player has been deemed either eligible or ineligible to play
- Email injury availability report to Director of Coaching, Football Operations Manager and Senior Coach on a weekly basis by the Wednesday of each week confirming the availability status of each player and the estimated return to play date
- Attend Match Day’s as fixtured to assess and treat players as required
- Conduct end of season medical screening on ALL listed players in conjunction with the Head Physio
VFLW: In-Season
- Provide support to the VFLW Doctor and medical team as necessary
Accreditation
- Bachelor of Medicine/Surgery/ Medical Science or equivalent (copy to be held on Club file)
- Basic First Aid / CPR (copy to be held on Club file)
- Working with Children’s Check (copy to be held on Club file)
