For this event, we are joined by dentist, Dr Stephanie Shields from Smith Street Dental. Stephanie will discuss:

- Long-term impacts of dental injuries
- Injury prevention and the role of mouthguards
- Specialty made mouthguards vs ‘boil and bite’ mouthguards
- Emergency dental care options

Dr. Stephanie Shields – Dr Stephanie Shields is originally from Brisbane and moved to the Top End in January 2015 to work at both Smith Street Dental Practice and Humpty Doo Dental. She completed her dental training in 2012 at Griffith University Gold Coast and worked for two years at a family practice in Brisbane. Steph enthusiastically enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and is dedicated to helping patients achieve and maintain an optimal level of dental health. She finds it very fulfilling to improve a patient’s overall well-being through the application of modern dental concepts. Steph is keenly interested in contemporary treatment advances and has a commitment to life- long learning. She is currently the secretary of the Australian Dental Association NT branch. Steph thoroughly enjoys the tropical lifestyle in Darwin and loves yoga and camping.
