Level 1 Sports Trainer
Sports Trainers play a vital role in making sport safer for all. This hands on course is designed to introduce participants of the basic knowledge and skills of how to prevent and manage injuries on and off the field. These skills include the immediate injury management sporting injuries, sports taping and transporting an injured athlete.
This course educates prospective sports trainers, teachers, coaches, administrators and parents on the basic principles of sports medicine.
Prerequisites
Entry into the Level 1 Sports Trainers course requires a current First Aid Qualification (HLTFA301B – Apply First Aid)
Course Duration
The Level 1 Sports Trainers course involves 16 hours of theoretical and practical sessions presented over a weekend.

• Management of Specific Sporting Injuries
• Warm up, Stretching and Cool Down
• Common Medical Conditions
• Common Sporting Illnesses and Injuries
• Nutrition
• Drugs in Sport
• Sports Taping
Course Costs
$250 per person (including GST)
This cost includes the Sports Medicine for Sports Trainers Manual, an interactive CD-ROM, and Sports Medicine Australia’s injury resources.
On successful completion of the course, the Level 1 Sports Trainer will receive a three year National Accreditation, and Identification Card.
