Sports First Aid Training Course

The Sports First Aid Training Course teaches the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualties, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

This one-day course has a sporting focus and is ideal for athletes, coaches, teachers and parents who wish to make sport safer. The Sports First Aid Training Course is equivalent to an Apply or Senior First Aid and aligned to the National Competency Apply First Aid HLTFA301B.

Topics include:

• Basic Life Support (CPR)

• Crisis Management

• Common Sporting Injuries

• Environmental Injuries

• Transport of the Injured Athlete.

Prerequisites

The minimum age is 14yrs.

Course Duration

SMAWA offers flexible learning though the online course Get SMART, enabling participants to study the theory content at their own time and pace. Participants then attend the one day (9hours) ‘in class’ course consisting of mainly practical components.

Course Costs

$160 per person (including GST)

This includes the Emergency First Aid text book, a compression bandage, and Sports Medicine Australia’s injury resources.

On successful completion of the course participants receive a Statement of Attainment in HLTFA301B Apply First Aid (which incorporates Perform CPR – HLTCPR201A and provide Basic Emergency Life Support – HLTFA201A). 3 year national certification.
