Combined Sports First Aid and Level 1 Sports Trainer
This course is specifically designed for people who want to become a Sport Trainer who have not yet completed the pre-requisite of a First Aid Certification. Participants can fast track their learning by doing two courses in one.
This course educates prospective sports trainers, teachers, coaches, administrators and parents on the basic principles of sports medicine.
Prerequisites
The minimum age is 16yrs.
Course Duration
SMAWA offers flexible learning though the online course Get SMART, enabling participants to study the theory content at their own time and pace. Participants then attend the one day (9 hours) “in class” course consisting of mainly practical components.
The Level 1 Sports Trainer course involves 16 hours of theoretical and practical sessions presented over a weekend.
Topics include:
• Management of specific sporting injuries
• Warm up, stretching and cool down
• Common medical conditions
• Common sporting illnesses and injuries
• Nutrition
• Sports taping
Course Costs
$390 per person (including GST)
This includes the Emergency First Aid Text Book, a triangular bandage, the Sports Medicine for Sports Trainers Manual, an interactive CD-ROM, and Sports Medicine Australia’s injury resources.
On successful completion of the course participants receive a 3 year national certification (which incorporates CPR – HLTCPR201A and Basic Emergency Life Support – HLTFA201A), the Level 1 as well as three years National acccreditation and an identification card.
