Level One Sports Trainer (L1ST)
Prerequisites:
Current Sports and/or Apply First Aid Certificate
Current CPR
Minimum age 16 years
This two-day course is concerned with the specific issues of prevention, assessment, management of and recovery from sports injury.
In this course, participants examine how the extent and intensity of sports participation relates to the incidence of sports injuries.
Participants explore the range of technical and scientific approaches for maintaining the wellbeing of athletes.

Functional Musculoskeletal Anatomy
Preventing Sports Injuries
Sports Nutrition
Drugs in Sports
Principles of Injury Management
Common Sports Illnesses and Injuries
Common Medical Conditions Affecting Athletes
Sports Taping
Moving Injured Athletes
This qualification facilitates the development of the following knowledge and skills:
Performing pre-and post-game/event taping, first aid and emergency care of athletes
Providing treatment of injuries
Developing warm-up, stretching and cool-down programs for athletes
Implementing strategies for dealing with medical conditions in a sport setting
Undertaking related administrative tasks such as budgeting and stock control
Organising and liaising with coaching and other sports science support staff
Upon successful completion of this course participants will be issued a three-year Level One Sports Trainer Accreditation.
