Level 1 Sports Trainer

Please note: This is a fast track course with participants receiving RPL for their allied health (Physiotherapist, Nurse, Exercise Science, Physical Education teacher, Osteopath etc) experience and qualifications. It is a pre-requisite of this course that participants hold a valid First Aid certificate prior to completing the course. This course will recognise you as a nationally accredited sports trainer, providing skills on how to prevent and manage injuries on and off the sporting field. National accreditation from this 8 hour course (normally 16 hours) is the standard requirement to work as a sports trainer in many of the country’s sporting codes. Topics covered include: preventing sports injuries; principles of injury management; sports taping; sports nutrition; transporting the injured athlete; and common sporting illnesses, injuries and medical conditions.

Sports First Aid

Successful completion of this course will provide participants with a National Accreditation as a SMA Sports First Aider. Participants will also be issued with a three-year Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment showing the unit of competency HLTFA311A – Apply First Aid, which incorporates the HLTCPR211A – Perform CPR, and HLTFA211A – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support, units of competency. These accreditation’s are valid for three years. Please be aware that you will be required to update your CPR certification every 12 months in order to keep your first aid accreditation valid.
