Advanced CPR (ACPR)


Prerequisites:

Current Sports and/or Apply First Aid Certificate

Current CPR

Minimum age 14 years

This course will provide participants with training in advanced first aid resuscitation techniques, life support and management of casualty(s) until the arrival of medical or other assistance.  Advanced Resuscitation has both practical and theoretical elements, where participants demonstrate procedures of techniques used and exhibit the necessary knowledge on administering advanced first aid.

The content for this course includes:

Legal responsibilities and duty of care
Chain of survival
Applying appropriate resuscitation techniques including:
  • Oxygen in resuscitation and oxygen therapy
  • Bay valve mask resuscitation device
  • AED (automated external defibrillator)
  • Mechanical and oxygen powered suction devices
  • Oropharyngeal airways
Care and storage of Oxygen Cylinders
Safety issues relation to the AED
Maintenance and Use of the AED

Upon successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a one – year Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment showing the HLTFA404A – Apply advanced Resuscitation Techniques.
