Sports Trainer Reaccreditation

Sports Trainer Accreditations are valid for 3 years and should be updated before the expiry date.

The SMA Reaccreditation procedure involves demonstrating that you are still competant with the skills required of a Level 1/2 Sports Trainer.

Sports Trainers have a six month grace period after their expiry date to reaccredit. Failure to reaccredit by this time will result in full attendance at the relevant course.

Reaccreditation Procedure

Participants are required to complete a theoretical workbook and practical assessment for reaccreditation which will be provided by SMA NSW upon registration.

Evidence of a minimum of 50 hours of practical experience from your sporting club or organisation, and a copy of a current First Aid Certificate are also prerequisites.

Internal course start at 1pm. A Spinal Injury Management Course is  also offered on each morning of a reaccreditation course. For further information about course content and registration details please click here.

External Reaccreditations

SMA NSW offers a reaccreditation option for people who live outside the Sydney-Metropolitan area and cannot attend an organised course at Sports House, Sydney Olympic Park.

Participants complete their practical assessment with a qualified physiotherapist or health professioanl as approved by SMA NSW. At the completion of the assessment all necessary information including 50 hour letter and first aid certificate is forwarded to SMA NSW for processing. Scheduling of appointments for the practical assessment are of the responsibility of the participant.

Upon registration participants will be posted the reaccreditation pack will all the apppropriate documents and assessment information.
