Level 2 Sports Trainer
The Level 2 Sports Trainers course is a progression from Level 1. It is designed to give the active sports trainer the flexibility to structure the course to suit their own needs by offering optional modules in addition to a compulsory core modules.
The prerequisites of the Level 2 Sports Trainer course include a current Level 1 Sports Trainers accreditation, current First Aid (HLTFA311A) and CPR (HLTCPR211A) as well as 50+ hours practical field experience from your associated club or organisation.
The core module is designed to increase the sports trainer’s knowledge of how the general principles of sports medicine relate to sport. These include:
- Advanced Taping
- Spinal Injury Management
- Concussion Management
- Introduction to Sports Massage
Upon successful completion of the course, the Level 2 Sports Trainer will receive a certificate and identification card.
Assessment Process
In addition to the compulsory core modules, 4 elective modules must be completed within the course, which will be chosen at the discretion of SMA NSW. These electives will be chosen from the following:
- Apply Advanced Resuscitation
- Basic Strength and Conditioning
- Sports Nutrition and Hydration
- Principles of Sports Psychology
- Sports Wound Management
- Dental Injuries in Sport
- Special Populations in Sport
- Asthma Management
- Pain Management
