RE-ACCREDITATION

The SMA Re-accreditation course is a practical demonstration based session where you will be asked to demonstrate competency in a number of key sports trainer tasks. It is not a course where you will be re-taught the entire content of first aid or the sports trainer course you have previously completed.

Please also note that in order to be re-accredited as a Sports Trainer you will need to provide a current first aid certificate (HLTFA301B Apply First Aid) to SMA upon enrolment in the course .

Sports First Aid Re-Accreditation

Participants holding a current or recently expired (<3 Months) First Aid accreditation HLTFA301B Apply First Aid can attend this course to update their National Recognised First Aid Accreditation even if current accreditation is held with another organisation. This course is equivalent to a senior first aid update.

Level 1 Sports Trainer Re-accreditation

Must have current Sports First Aid / CPR Certification and current or recently expired (<3 Months)  Level 1 sports trainers accreditation. This reaccreditation is aimed at ensuring sports trainers can demonstrated competence in taping and injury management using TOTAPS as a guide. Sports Trainers working with clubs who can demonstrate continual professional development, i.e. attending the sports trainers conference, can apply for reaccreditation without attending a formal session. RPL: In addition to the below RPL is offered to sports trainers who can demonstrate that they have being working for a club and have attended at least three professional development sessions to update their knowledge within the last three years. $95.00 for one accreditation or $150.00 if applying for two accreditation at the same time.

  • Sports Trainers Conference (sports trainers have the opportunity to take in a full day of professional development which will allow them to use this day to re accredit their level 1 sports trainers accreditation. Level 2 Sports Trainer Re-accreditation

Must have current Sports First Aid and current or recently expired (<3 Months) Level 2 sports trainers accreditation.  Sports Medicine Australia believes in acknowledging the importance role which a level 2 sports trainers players within a club and as such the re-accreditation process for this level is set to ensure a high standard of immediate care, advanced applications in taping, spinal management and senior role within sporting clubs. Focusing on the important parts of keeping up to date with networks and current trends it is expected that level 2 sports trainers will attend professional development sessions on a regular basic.

In order to be eligible for level 2 sports trainers accreditation, a minimum of three professional development topics must be undertaken throughout the last three year period.  Trainers must hold a current sports first aid accreditation and a current spinal management accreditation (< 3 years) however it is recommended that this be updated every 12 months.
