2013 Course Calendar

8:30am   – 5:00pm 8:30am – 2:00pm 6:30pm – 9:00pm

1. Level 2 Core Course 20 hours.

The core unit is designed to increase the sports trainers knowledge of how the general principles of sports medicine relates to sport, as well introducing topics such as psychology of injury, advanced taping, medical conditions, sports trainers role in rehabilitation of injury and advanced crisis management. Participants must attend a minimum of 80% of the core unit and complete all assessment requirements to be eligible for accreditation.

2. Modules
In addition to the core unit, 25 hours of elective modules from a minimum of 5 different topics must be completed to gain accreditation as a Level 2 Sports Trainer.

The 5 different electives must include:

  • advanced taping
  • introduction to massage
  • spinal management

PRE-REQUISISTES FOR THIS COURSE:
Prospective participants must meet each of the following criteria to enter the level 2 sports trainers’ course:

  • Current level 1 sports trainers qualification
  • Minimum 50 hours of practical sports trainer experience (letter signed by a club official is required).
  • Current CPR/First Aid qualification with a recognised training organisation to meet HLTFA311A Apply First Aid.

Accreditation
Upon successful completing all of the core course and the five elective modules, participants will be issued with a 3 year accreditation as a level 2 sports trainer.
