There are a number of projects and programs throughout Australia and internationally that promote the benefits of physical activity and healthy eating. Listed below is a sample of excellent resources which compliment similar programs offered by SMA.

10,000 Steps

Currently “10,000 Steps” has over 22,000 registered members who utilise the interactive features of the website and, to date, have logged over 12 Billion steps online. The program also has over 750 ‘registered providers’ from a wide range of health professions who, by means of free registration, access a vast amount of program support information and materials at no cost.
10,000 Steps engages individuals, professionals and communities in the promotion of physical activity.

AusPAnet

Welcome to AusPAnet (pronounced oz-par-net). is a communication network providing access to timely, accurate information about physical activity, from developments in the area to events and conferences. This network is for anyone who sees physical activity as part of their role or interest.

Bone and Joint Decade

The Bone and Joint Decade 2000 – 2010 (BJD) is an umbrella organisation for professional societies, governments, patient advocacy groups, industry and researchers who work together to make bone and joint health the business of every Australian. BJD aims to: Raise awareness of the growing burden on society of musculoskeletal disorders caused by poor bone and joint health; Promote care and prevention being better than surgical or medical cure; Empower patients to participate in care of their own bones and joints; and To advance research on cost-effective prevention, diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders.
