Keynote Speaker
Steve Moneghetti
After winning a Bronze medal in his debut marathon at the 1986 Commonwealth Games, Steve Moneghetti went on to become one of the best marathon runners in the world. He won the full set of marathon medals at the Commonwealth Games, attended four Olympics, finishing in the top 10 on three occasions and went to six World Championships winning a Bronze medal in Athens in 1997. He ran a world record for the half marathon three times, holds the hour world mark for a master and recently ran a world age record for 10km on the road running 30.00 at 46 years of age. He is Chairman of the Victorian Institute of Sport and Chef de Mission of the Australian Team for the Commonwealth Games being held in India later this year.

Kylie Andrew
Kylie is a Sports Dietitian with over 15 years experience of working with a range of sports and athletes of varying levels. She is currently the Nutrition Coordinator at the Victorian Institute of Sport and a Consultant to the Richmond Football Club.
Dr David Bolzonello
David is a medical practitioner with over 28 years experience, the last 17 as a Sports Physician. David is also a partner at the Alphington Sports Medicine Clinic, the Team Medical Officer for the Calder Cannons and a Consultant Physician to the AFL VIC State Academy Program.
Matti Clements
Matti is currently based in Melbourne, having recently begun the role of Psychology Service Manager for the AFL Players Association. She has been the Senior Psychologist for the Australian Institute of Sport Triathlon, Beach Volleyball and Cycling squads. Matti also runs a busy private practice “Mental Edge Consulting”.
Associate Professor Jill Cook
Jill currently works in the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences at Deakin University, her research areas include sports medicine and tendon injury. After completing her PhD in 2000, she has investigated tendon pathology, treatment options and risk factors for tendon injury. Jill currently supplements her research by conducting a specialist tendon practice and by lecturing and presenting workshops in Australia and overseas.
Associate Professor Robin Daly
Associate Professor Robin Daly is the Principal Research Fellow and Director of Research in the Department of Medicine at the University of Melbourne, Western Hospital. His main research interests are on the role of exercise and nutrition, particularly calcium, vitamin D and protein, for optimising musculoskeletal health and function during both growth and ageing.
Rob Forster-Knight
Rob has an elite sporting background having played AFL football for 6 years. Rob is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and has completed his Masters in Exercise Science (Strength and Conditioning). He is currently a consultant to the AFL VIC State Academy Program, and has been involved in coordinating the Calder Cannons u/18 conditioning program for the past four years.
Chris Gleeson
After playing representative football for a number of years, including time with the Coburg VFL team, Chris went on to work for the Calder Cannons in the TAC Cup for 12 years. Chris has both a Bachelor of Education and a Graduate Diploma in Sports Management and is currently the Director of Sport at St Patrick’s School in Ballarat.
Carli Harris
Carli has worked as a physiotherapist in Melbourne since graduating from La Trobe University and in 2010 will complete her Masters in Sports Physiotherapy. Alongside working for Bounce Health Group, Carli is the Academy Medical Services Consultant for AFL Victoria’s development programs.
Dr John Hurley
After working for many years in hospitals across England, John joined the Queen Elizabeth Centre in Ballarat in 1978 as a Medical Director and later as a Physician Geriatric Medicine. He has a keen interest in sport, has been a contributor to a number of publications on exercise and the elderly, and has a special interest in medication in old age, falls and balance, dementia and acquired brain injury.
Jacqui Louder
Jacqui has been a Sports Psychologist for over 10 years and currently works out of the Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre in both sport and clinical psychology areas. She also works with Tennis Australia, the National Institute of Circus Arts, and has previously worked at the Kangaroos (AFL) and was the village psychologist for the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
Artur Maliszewski
Artur graduated from La Trobe University in 1993 to then work in a private practice from 1993 – 2000. He has since been a Laboratory Director, a La Trobe University Lecturer in Orthotics, and a supplier/manufacturer of orthotics to leading podiatrists in Australia and the UK.
Hayden Morris
Hayden is an Orthopaedic Surgeon and knee specialist and currently practices at The Park Clinic in East Melbourne. He has a particular research interest in ACL and Patellofemoral surgery and rehabilitation, along with knee replacement surgery.
Dr Riku Nikander
Riku worked as a Physiotherapist from 1996, went on to do his Master of Science, then completed his PhD in 2009. He has worked as a Bone Researcher, specifically with the UKK Institute for Health Promotion Research based in Finland from 2003-2009 and is now working out of the Western Hospital with the University of Melbourne as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow.
John Quinn
John’s coaching career has spanned more than 25 years and has worked with many of Australia’s leading athletes and coaches across a diverse range of sports. John has been an Olympic Coach for athletics, Head Fitness Coach at Essendon FC for 10 years, worked in the Indian Cricket League and with the Socceroos. He is currently an Exercise Physiologist at Olympic Park SMC.
Dr Natalie Saunders
Dr Natalie Saunders currently lectures at the School of Human Movement and Sport Sciences at the University of Ballarat. Her research interests include biomechanics in a functional context, in particular understanding the various loads on the human body that results in injury, prevents injury or is related to the rehabilitation of various structures.
Annabel Sides
Annabel currently works as the Health Programs Manager at SMA-VIC, responsible for the Community Sports Safety Project, Smartplay, CleanEdge and Sports Injury Tracker Programs. Prior to joining SMA-VIC Annabel worked for Cricket Victoria, has been a physical education teacher and has held many roles within the Victorian Water Polo Association.
Lisa Stevens
Lisa, a former Australian Champion and NCAS coach, is currently the Sport Psychology Consultant for a number of elite sporting clubs, institutes, and organisations including Racing Victoria Limited, Victorian Jockey Association, Victorian Institute of Sport, Women’s Artistic Gymnastic High Performance Centre, Gippsland Academy of Sport, AFLPA, and a senior AFL Club.
Dr Dara Twomey
Dara Twomey is a Research Fellow in the injury prevention group at the University of Ballarat. Her current research focus has been around developing the evidence base for linking ground conditions and injury risk in community level sport and exploring the feasibility of synthetic surface options to counteract drought conditions.
