On Monday 22 September, Federal Minister for Sport, the Hon. Kate Ellis MP, launched Sports Medicine Australia's revised Safety Guidelines for Children and Young People in Sport and Recreation and National Smartplay Program.

In October 2009, Sports Medicine Australia will host the paramount sports medicine, sports science, sports injury prevention and physical activity promotion conference event in Australia, known as be active '09.
