SMAWA 2015 State Conference

Jason Weber

Jason Weber has proven over the bulk of the last two decades that he is a leader in design and implementation of team based Strength & Conditioning programs and the overall management of High Performance environments.

Since 1998, Jason has been at the forefront of strength & conditioning in professional sport in Australia.  As the longest serving Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Wallabies (2002-2007), Jason had direct responsibility for the physical preparation of the team for over 100 test matches including two Rugby World Cups.  Jason was also a catalyst in building the foundations for the Australian Rugby Union’s current long-term physical development program.

Prior to his Wallabies appointment, Jason held positions as the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for the AIS Rugby Program, the Queensland Reds and the NSW Waratahs.  In this period Jason prepared over 100 athletes for 50+ Super 12 Rugby games, including two finals appearances, and yielded two U/21 Rugby World Championships.

Jason currently holds the position of Sport Science (High Performance) Manager at the Fremantle Football Club (AFL), a role that oversees all elements of physical performance from strength & conditioning to recovery, injury treatment & rehabilitation.  While assisting to produce teams that have made finals in three of his five years with the club, 2013 represented a truly “breakout” year for the club making the AFL Grand Final for the first time in the club’s history.

In 2005 he released his first book “Train Tough” which has subsequently gone on to be translated and published in the motherland of strength training; Russia.

With well over a decade of immersion in developing elite performers on the world stage has given Jason a unique perspective on how people function under extreme pressure, how they develop and the “pitfalls” associated with the pursuit of “high performance”.
