ACT State Symposium: ‘Exercise as Therapeutic Intervention’

Sports Medicine Australia have secured 10 outstanding presenters for the ACT State Symposium: ‘Exercise as therapeutic intervention.’

Drawing on the expertise of a wide range of specialists- from health practitioners, sports physicians, trainers, the tech savvy as well as those involved in architecture/town planning, you will gain a holistic view of the various ways exercise can improve overall health and well being.

The Symposium will begin by breaking down the physiology of how exercise is beneficial at a cellular level, and then expand to various special topics explaining why exercise is one of the best interventions for the body.

Highlights include keynote, Dr Nirmala Perera, who will speak on her experiences of engaging with the public and health practitioners on a grand scale using social media. Andrew Short and his personal trainer, Lee Campbell, will also share their testimonies on the power of exercise. Andrew has cerebral palsy and the condition was significantly impacting on his well-being. With the help of Lee, he has improved his endurance, strength and overall quality of life to such a great extent, that they have been able to tackle incredible feats together.
