Keynote Speaker Announcement – Dr Tim Hewett

The Conference Committee for the 2016 Sports Medicine Australia Conference are honoured to announce Dr Tim Hewett as the latest keynote speaker.

Timothy E. Hewett, Ph.D., serves as director of Biomechanics, director of Sports Medicine Research, director of the Materials Structural Testing Core and as a consultant in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, with joint appointments in the Department of Physiology and Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Hewett holds the academic rank of professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation, physiology and orthopedics, and he is recognized with the distinction of a named professorship, the John and Posy Krehbiel Professorship in Orthopedics. He joined the staff of Mayo Clinic in 2015.

Dr. Hewett is a pioneer and an international leading expert in the field of injury prevention, with a special focus on ACL risk factor and prevention research. Dr. Hewett has published over 350 peer-reviewed articles with over 27,000 citations in the medical literature and has authored a book and several book chapters. He is chair and a permanent member of the National Institutes of Health MRS Study Section and is on the editorial board of several medical journals.
