2019 SMA/AIS Conference Committee – expressions of interest

SMA & the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) are calling for expressions of interest for sports science and medicine professionals who would like to join our committee for organising the 2019 SMA/AIS conference “Sex in Sport“. This Symposium is proudly organised in collaboration between the AIS & SMA in the lead up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The theme for this Symposium is to explore the differences in health and performance characteristics between men and women, with a focus on women in sport.

The candidate would ideally fulfil one or more criteria below:

  • Currently working within a national institute network (NIN) or National Sporting Organisation (NSO)
  • Working within at least one and an ability to work across a second of the following disciplines:
    • Medicine
    • Epidemiology
    • Nutrition
    • Physiotherapy
    • Strength and conditioning
    • Sports Science/Physiology
    • Movement Science /Skill acquisition
    • Psychology
    • Coaching and leadership
    • Or other areas not represent here which may be of interest to participants.
  • Demonstrated publication record or equivalent experience
  • Commitment to be available to attend key planning meetings, approximately one hour every 2-3 months, more frequently in 2019
  • Willing to actively contribute on the committee as part of a team. For example: be willing and able to use networks and approach colleagues and individuals to invite as keynotes or speakers.
