WA – SMA Adolescent apophyseal injuries: diagnosis and management – Tuesday 29th Novemer 2016.

Apophyseal injuries which are unique in the adolescent athlete, cause pain at the site of a major tendinous insertion on a growing bony prominence.  These injuries typically occur in active adolescents aged between 8-15 years of age.  Common injuries include Sever’s disease, Osgood-Schlatter disease and Sinding-Larsen-Johansson syndrome.

Dr Tom Hill – Sports and Exercise Medicine Registrar – Sportsmed Subiaco

Dr Hill is a Sports and Exercise Medicine Registrar based at Sportsmed Subiaco.  He is also an Orthopaedic Assistant Surgeon.  He is the current Club Doctor for the East Fremantle Football Club and WAFL State U16/18 Football Academy.   He is a keen golfer and has a clinical interest in recreational athletes and collision sport and impact injuries.  He recently was the on-water doctor for the Rottnest Channel Swim.

Myles Murphy – Sports Physiotherapist – Sportsmed Subiaco

Myles is a sports physiotherapist with a Masters of Clinical physiotherapy and a current PhD Candidate from the University of Notre Dame. He was awarded the title of “Australian Sports Physiotherapist” in 2015 by the Australian Physiotherapy Association. Myles currently works at Sportsmed Subiaco .  He is the head physiotherapist for Peel Thunder Football Club and the Peel Regional Academy of Sports.

Paolo Ghiselli – Podiatrist – Peak Podiatry

Paolo graduated in 1995 with a South African National Higher Diploma in Podiatry and was awarded with the highest academic qualifications in that year. Further to this he completed a Bachelor of Science Honours degree through Brighton University in the UK.  His expertise lies in all fields of Podiatry but his keen interest remains with musculoskeletal problems in sports and paediatrics.  In his spare time Paolo is an avid runner partaking in both half marathon and marathon running and has a keen interest in golf.
  Paolo joined Peak Podiatry in 2014.
